Holy shit.

Heck yeah. That final boss encounter was so cool! I loved how you handled turn-based combat. I really enjoyed being able to treat dodging as a puzzle rather than a matter of reflexes. I think a game like this benefits from making quest progression non-negotiable, I found myself missing one or two NPC convos (I went back for them, though!) because I hurried to the next X on my map, so I made sure to talk to everyone as much as I could. Really great work, lots of fun, accidentally sunk 3+ hours into it!

Glad you liked it! The Superhot "puzzle dodging" mechanic was originally a workaround to make playing on mobile feel less frustrating; often mobile controls are clumsy and I figured letting the player stop and breathe in a fight would alleviate the issue of panicking and fat fingering the controls during a fast-paced encounter.

It's awesome that you were immersed enough in the story to read through all of it! While there are a few "hidden" lines of dialogue (for example, Fror has unique dialogue after you beat the final boss) the meat and potatoes of the story wasn't intended to require much more than talking to Mom and Wanda once at the beginning and end of the game, along with the mandatory dialogue needed to add the next boss to the map. There was no real logic to where I added special dialogue after story events except for when I thought one of the characters would realistically have something to say about it. I considered adding unique dialogue for every character to give the player something to look out for while completing the bestiary, but for now I think I'm fine with only some of them having special dialogue.

Great work. took some trial and error to understand what the abilities do, but starting a new game is very quick so it wasn't too bad. Moving statues on top of enemies before i move down the stairs was a great time, and the sound effects made it all so fun to get into the groove. Great work. :)

Play 1: I don't get it.
Play 2: I don't get it
Play 3: Wait... wait a minute.. I think I get it
Play 45: I... i did it....

Great work, loads of fun, cool background music track. Takes a bit to understand (the instructions aren't super clear but we got there in the end!) but very rewarding :)

Edit: 358 out of 360... so close.. For anyone stuck on mimics, they are 11 points of danger, so if you have a chest uncovered but the adjacent squares are telling you there's an 11 point monster near... THATS a mimic! Don't click it til you get 11 hearts >:)

Easy to pick up! I like strategy games that get you into the groove of understanding what you want to do, so any additional playthroughs start a lot faster and I can experiment a lot easier! I also really like that you can see the whole map for this first part of the game! Maybe later maps will not be entirely visible, but I do like the idea of planning out my whole adventure, and weighing gaining equipment with gaining experience for levelling. I think there should be more opportunities for health, but maybe that's part of the difficulty? The second I got the "Heal +3 for every killed enemy" I knew it was over for the monster in this game, lol xD. I'm not a big fan of rougelikes, and dying because of a bunch of bad rolls is lame, but the addition of weapons like the Axe that let me rerolls 1s was great, my eyes lit up when I saw it for sale! Perhaps this is the appeal of roguelikes after all, where the real challenge is how much you know. (I don't know what the dif between a rougelike and a rougelite is, sorry!)

Small glitch: I restarted my run when the shovel graphic wouldn't leave the play area. Basically if I selected a different equipment item, it would appear over the shovel, even if I didn't own a shovel anymore. oops! After restarting, I think I started a new game too quickly, because the music didn't play!

Great work, looking forward to more :)

MadNukin responds:

We are aware of the glitch, it should be fixed in v0.2-beta (but it's not out yet)
The decision of not having hp easily available is something we are already thinking of fixing.
Thanks for the review :)

5 stars for Lil Leo

Yesssssss welcome back!

Had a lot of fun doing this again. Hope to see you do lots more cool stuff in the future! The audio never turned on for me, which I imagine must be difficult so anyone who hasn't played this before, but I got thru it eventually xDD I know they don't live with me, but I would have liked to keep my wee glowworm friend haha

You know what, I wasn't certain about the gimmick at first, it was very easy to get turned around (i essentially played this game lost the whole time, hehe), but the ending really was a perfect bow on top of it. Great work

Very lovely sound design + graphics, its got a sweet, storybook quality. I find it interesting that the controls dont list the arrow keys at all, since thats what i used to walk around. I'm not able to leave the starting room (left clicking w a mouse / two finger tapping w a laptop dont do anything ;-; ) so maybe I'll try to come back to this later, but it has a lot of lovely potential :)

esrioss responds:

Thank you for letting me know about the arrow keys! I added them to the desc. I checked the exit room thing and im not sure why it wasnt working for you, sorry ;-;
I dont know how you were playing, but there is an invisible hotspot at the bottom strip of each room, which brings you back to the chapter page when you click it with the arrow/interact cursor. I just updated the desc to specify!

Thank you for letting me know about this stuff, I really appreciate it !!! (^^)o
